Here I tried making a 3D first person shooter, all in JavaScript and Three.js. I took some code from a couple of my other tutorials, like first person camera controls and ammo.js stuff, bolted on a few free things from places like Sketchfab, and added some shooter gameplay. The code could totally be used as a starting point for somebody else wanting to make a little browser FPS.

Basically, I tried to code up a first person shooter skeleton in a few days, using nothing more than JavaScript and the browser. All the elements, HUD, etc. are in there and in workable states. There's tonnes more you could do obviously, but I think this can help you understand how you might structure things and use something like Three.js to get started on these types of projects. Making a basic first person shooter, even in JavaScript, isn't too difficult.

I Tried Making an FPS Game

my 3d cellular automata simulation written in rust with multi threading was sub-optimal. Using benchmarks with criterion and the help from my community, I learnt what the bottlenecks of this application are.
Today I share the journey I went through to optimize my multi-threading code!

Rust multi-threading code review

Graphics programming is so cool!
I managed to make a water shader, load 3d models, create a beautiful transition shader in just 7 days using OpenGL and the Rust programming language.

I used this OpenGL wrapper called glium:

I went from Unity, to pure Rust (no game engine), to then moving all my code into bevy (a Rust game engine).
The latest move, was promted due to having some project architecture challanges, that I felt could be solved easily with Bevy. Their entity component system is also one of the front runner in innovation I think, which is very exciting to work with.

Graphics programming is freaking hard! Voxel engine, water/wind shaders, landscape height map generation, scene transitions, are just a few of the things I've made with it so far. If you want to build a car, it might help to reinvent the wheel sometimes to fully understand it on a deeper level.
All projects I've highlighted in this video was written with Rust + various libraries!
The water + landscape + wind project I made specifically for this video using Rust and wgpu.

It's hard to quantify but rest assured, I've spent more than 100 hours trying to learn this skill.
